The Free Form Film Festival returns to its home-base of San Francisco for an intimate one-night-only screening of OUT. This second installment in the FFFF’s “outsider” series focuses on the most kitsch-friendly of all outsider art motifs: the holidays. The spirit of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and New Years Eve all find their way into the hearts of the world’s strangest public access producers and low-budget filmmakers.

On October 16th, the Free Form Film Festival, the Lost Media Archive and Loaf-i Records combine forces to bring San Francisco an early sampling of unbelievably strange holiday cheer. This October screening will kick off a short US tour that will bring OUT2 to several east and west coast venues during the months of November and December.

The FFFF’s OUT programs continually seek to ask the question "What makes an outsider artist?" Is it simply an unawareness of what entertains the mainstream or is it a purposeful rebellion against mass culture? Is it a lack of know-how, or simply a unique worldview? What is it that fuels people to create this hilariously embarrassing, and yet sometimes utterly heartfelt media? The motives are apparently broad and, though outsider art often rests on the far fringe of society, it can sometimes penetrate the highest tiers of corporate television. From the befuddling, yet sincere "Miss Velma's Christmas Special" to George Lucas' disastrous "Star Wars Holiday Special", this program of video clips spans the gamut.

OUT2 will be followed by a rare performance… the Metal-Punk-No-wave-Jazz-Funk-Noise-Junk stylings of SABRETEETH! Originating in San Francisco, this band's members create art in California, Connecticut, Utah, and Washington D.C. Tonight, they reconvene for a special performance. All OUT programs are made possible by the Lost Media Archive. A new Utah-based outpost that collects promotes and distributes weird media.
